Acne & Scars: What you should do to keep Breakouts at Bay

by Abigail Mckenzee

Acne appears because oil and bacteria block pores. Acne is an extremely common problem that can be difficult to treat because it is just as individual as you are. Acne has many forms and there are no one-size-fits-all treatments. With so many treatments out there, finding the right one for you can be quite a task. Try these simple steps to help care for your acne as you treat it.

It may be impossible to discover one cause for your acne, but irritating your skin will most definitely aggravate your acne. Picking, scratching, and squeezing your skin will cause irritation and can also spread oil and bacteria. Also, try to avoid anything that irritates your skin, such as certain foods, make-up, and beauty products. Stress, hormones, bacteria build-up, and genetics are all causes of acne.

Acne lesions are caused when pores push oil and dirt to the surface of the skin. In general, it is wise to leave acne affected skin relatively untouched because contact with the skin can result in increased irritation and lesions. Following this simple advice will set you off on the right foot in your fight against acne, but you will need some additional weapons.

Chemical or Natural Acne Treatments?

A good acne treatment should heal old acne scars at the same time that it prevents new acne lesions from forming. Many acne treatments contain harsh chemicals that can further irritate your skin and have unwanted side effects such as dry, irritated skin. Other side effects of chemical treatments are headaches, dizziness, and even depression. Some chemicals to watch out for are benzoyl peroxide, glycolic acids, and sulfur. There is, however, an alternative that does not contain these harmful components.

The key is to find a product that is comprised of natural substances. Natural ingredients do not irritate your skin and do not come with a long list of harmful side effects. It is also good to use an acne and scar treatment which can be applied topically. A topical treatment will directly attack your acne inflammatory reaction.

Don't let acne run your life anymore. By using some simple, everyday habits and treating your acne naturally, you can look forward to acne-free skin.
